QuickBoot 2.0

Filed under: PC Tools — dstruktiv @ 3:32 pm

I’ve released a new version of QuickBoot, this one adds a nicer interface with greater control over containers found during the auto scan. It also adds the ability to automatically upload to your Xbox via FTP.

edit – I re-uploaded a version that fixed issues with the folder path being taken from the Game Name instead of the actual folder path.

Thanks for your effort, you are without any doubt a must have for the actual/upcoming xbox scene.

sweet as app, nice one bro.

    nice one dude

Great work man, Keep it up! One thing i found, is that you only can remove one item at the time. Maybe it would be easier if you have alot of games, to be able to remove multiple games.

    Best Regards

    Excellent work! I love QuickBoot!

Could you add support for building QuickBoot containers for XBLA games in the future? I don’t really use a dash replacement and would love to run XBLA games from my USB HDD.

    Thanks man! You rock!

  6. BulletMag says:

Would there be a possibility of scanning via ftp (like the freestyle dash indexer) then we can choose what we want to quickboot
I only ask as all my games are on a 500gb internal drive and i killed my last mobo using the xecuter hdd connector so im reluctant to use it again.

Most excellent man! Thanks a lot!

Just wondering though, will it still need a XEX file for the QuickBoot shortcut? I’m asking this cause these XBLA games are packaged in a LIVE container. They can be extracted, but then they end up being trial versions most of the time. So here’s to hoping that QuickBoot will be able to create shortcuts to launch stuff from within LIVE containers. ;-)

I love your app, 1 thing that would make it better tho and it would fix the only thing that prevents me from saying my xbox 360 is perfect. If you added support for GoD containers that would make it possible to launch exactly everything from an external HD, now thanks to you im launching XBLA, and xex from external but still cant launch GoD, So if you added support for GoD that id be awesome

  12. Bolke says:

To Hausmanis: You’re launching XBLA games from an external disk by using a shortcut created with QuickBoot? How?

  13. Hausmanis says:

Im creating the shortcuts for me witch i then use in the dashboard 360dashit

  14. Hausmanis says:

To clarify my last post, Im using 360dashit dashboard, the 360dashitIndexer, As soon as i add something to my USB drive i run the indexer and Quickboot.

And thus everything i wanna run eighter shows up in my regular standard Dashboard (full games) or in 360dashit (arcade games)

Still got the problem with the freaking GOD folder games tho

  15. dstruktiv says:

I can add XBLA/Demo support to QuickBoot so you can boot XBLA games off of USB hdd from NXE. Will add this in next release. We still haven’t quite cracked launching GOD containers from code yet so at the moment they’re still limited to being launched from NXE and an internal hdd.

  16. Bolke says:

Hausmanis, thanks for clearing that up. I was wondering if I was missing something. :-)

dstruktiv, thanks man. Really looking forward to it.

And while we’re talking GoD containers as well, does anybody know if it’s currently possible to extract the contents from a GoD container like we do with normal game ISO’s or XBLA containers?

I know XBLA containers are basicly just LIVE containers and can be extracted with pirstools. GoD containers are different right? At least, they can’t be extracted with pirstools last time I tried it.

Thanks for all the hard work dstructiv!

  17. dstruktiv says:

Well using Le Fluffie you can extract the GDF or XFS image from the GOD container (Basically a tweaked ISO) – But then I’m not sure what tools support opening these ISO’s… I remember reading it can be done though with a certain tool just can’t remember what it was :p – Let us know if you find out.

  18. Hausmanis says:

Thx for great replies, okey im holding my thumbs someone will crack that soon, keep up the good work

  19. Hausmanis says:

Forgot to ask one thing, anyone have a idea why Wave6 games wont boot of xex files, but work perfectly if you convert them to GOD folders ?

  20. crime says:

    hi i love this programm…

there is one i dont love…

it is possbible when i use quicktboot…tha it takes my dirname as direction and not the original from the gamesname

  21. crime says:

Forget my first comment :-) )…i take the new one..

but one problem ….same games on usb harddrive different quickboot version and always differnt icons not seen..The the Game another Version with right Icon i cant understand it

  22. SLAM-ER says:

OK, I must be doing something wrong… Trying to make a quicklaunch for Freestyle dash 1.08. I downloaded (updated) Quickboot 2.0 above, Run it, clicked on add, add an icon I want to use, enter in the name & description, for the path I put “hdd:\Freestyle\” (as per .nfo file) and for the Executable I entered “FreestyleDash.xex” and click on build selected. It reports: “Index: 1 – Path doesnt seem valid”. If I remove the “hdd:” from the path it will build, but when I launch it on the console it just goes blank for a bit, then returns to the dashboard (cant find it I guess).

I want to run Freestyle dash from the 360 ‘internal’ HDD (not USB). What am I doing wrong?

    Cheers, SLAM-ER

  23. SLAM-ER says:

Nevermind, I kept trying different stuff and it seems to have worked. Not sure what my final config was, it could of even been Xexmenu not overwriting the files. Anyway it seems to work now. Cheers for the app.

  24. Hausmanis says:

I finaly “fixed” my final problem, seems newer games always comes with an “system update” folder and to run them of usb with xex files all i had to do was to delete that folder, simple :D

  25. Ectoplasma says:

Looks very nice, but I can’t get it work with my external USB-Disc. When I try to modify path to usb:\Games\bla, I always get the error “Path doesn’t seem valid”. Am I too stupid? Please help me…. :)

  26. dstruktiv says:

I really should have mentioned it in the release notes, but the device isn’t needed lol. Just enter in “\Games\bla\” and it will go through all devices that are plugged in till it finds it – No need to write “hdd:” or “usb:” etc.

  27. Public Enemy says:

i did it like you but if i select the file from my dashboard screens turm black and im back in my dashboard. I i start my game per xexmenü via default.xex it wokrs :S

  28. Public Enemy says:

sry for double post the same in post 24

  29. Hausmanis says:

Is it possible to make a quickboot that is runna:ble on the xbox 360 ? would be very nice, then you can just upload your games to your xbox and run quickboot of the xbox and never have to connect your external hd to your pc for quickboot.

  30. FishBurn says:

Can this be used with multi disc games like Mass effect 2 or ff13

  31. Spook says:

Hi, in all your documentation, I have not see any mention of memory units. Now that you scan all available paths to find the executable, I think you may have left out memory units in your scan.

Memory units are listed as MemUnit0: of /Memunit0 when viewed through FTP, can you please update to include these paths? Thanks!

  32. dikdiamond says:

Could you add support for xbe in the next build? I’ve been trying to get quickboot to work with Freestyle Dash rev 181 that supports xbox originals on a usb hd. I want to run the games from NXE but keep the game itself on usb. The Freestyle dash doesn’t recognize GOD,and vice-versa,so to keep it simple I wanted to rip my games with Freestyle but also have them available through NXE

  33. dasbooter says:

Does this program have any dependencies like .net framework I am getting application error failed to initialize properly in xp

  34. dstruktiv says:

Yeah it needs .NET 3.5 which can be downloaded from MS.

  35. dasbooter says:

Thank you for your prompt reply. Sorry I should have waited a little for a reply but I pm’d you in a board somehwhere else so pls disregard that. I noticed that Schmurtz incorporates quickboot into exiso-gui ftp. So is there a way to ftp the files to the 360 and use quickboot to make shortcuts in the 7000 directory(so you dont have to hook up the usb drive to the system). I think b4 you had the option to choose usbhdd or hddx so I am kind of confused… because 2.0 automatically detects right. Sorry if this question is stupid. I thought I would mention too for constructive feedback that during the scans the icons are not picked up (at least for me) when you scan a whole directory recursively. If you scan each games folder seperately you have a better chance of getting the iconn.

  36. maou says:

    thank you for the program.
Now we can play the default.xbe (XBOX 1 games)by Freestyle or xexmenu
So is it possible to add the support of XBE shortcuts in the next version?

  37. bugman72 says:

XBE support of Xbox1 games would be perfect! That’s the one thing that keeps me from absolutely LOVING my JTAG console. I would love to be able to rip my Xbox1 games to my USB external and use Quickboot to create the Live link.

  38. dstruktiv says:

Technically there’s already support for Xbo1 games – As long as you have the hacked emulator installed. In QB 2.0 it verifies that you type in .xex (Dumb limitation on my part)… But the actual code that runs on the 360 is capable of launching .xbe files. So… Grab an older version of quickboot off Xbins, from memory 1.2 will do fine, and just point it to a .xbe file (In versions prior to 1.2 you also have to manually type in the device i.e “hdd” or “usb” – Check the readme). I’ll release an updated version soon… But it’s all going to be included in my content manger that will be released in a few weeks too :)

    Or supplied credentials are wrong.

I know my IP address is correct, what about credentials? Do I need to log in on my Profile on my 360? Is my username and password the same as my Live?

  43. Horst says:

same friggin’ error cannot resolve server. Ftp connection works perfect. seems to be quite a lot of people with this error out there and there’s nothing you can do to solve this.
Is there going to be an update for Quickboot or was 2.0 the last one?
